Long Island University (Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences)

The Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (formerly the Brooklyn College of Pharmacy) is the oldest unit of Long Island University. During the past century the growth in curriculum, faculty, and facilities illustrate a progress reflective of the College's dedication to meet the changing needs of the health professions and its continued pursuit of excellence. Students pursue their studies in both the College's new $22,000,000 Health Sciences Center and the Pharmacy Complex equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and lecture halls. A residence hall, library, student service facilities are located on campus. The College provides one of the most diverse clinical professional programs in the country with a wide variety of excellent hands-on learning experiences. The College offers an entry-level Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree and the master of science degree with specializations in industrial pharmacy, cosmetic science, pharmacology, toxicology, pharmaceutical and health care marketing administration, and drug regulatory affairs. Approximately twenty-five percent of current students continue for advanced degrees. The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is a private, nonsectarian institution with a highly diverse student body. There are nearly 1,000 full-time professional students and approximately 150-200 graduate students enrolled each year. The College sponsors active chapters of the Academy of Students of Pharmacy (ASP), the Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA), the Rho Chi Pharmaceutical Honor Society, the Phi Lambda Sigma Society, and various professional fraternities and sororities.
