Pharmacologists
Pharmacologists are biomedical scientists who examine the mechanisms underlying the effects of drugs and chemicals on living systems. They apply this skill to help design and estimate drugs for the avoidance and treatment of illness.

Duties
Obligations and responsibilities fluctuate from one position to another but, in general, pharmacologists:

  • Conduct basic, clinical or translational investigation in laboratories in universities, hospitals, investigation institutions or the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.
  • Contribute in training physicians, pharmacists, dentists, future pharmacologists and other health care professionals in universities or other post-secondary institutions.
  • Help in the evaluation and marketing of drugs and associated products for the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Work in government agencies related with the detection, regulation and licensing of drugs and related products.
