Residency Programs for Pharmacy Students
Schools of pharmacy offer both PGY1 and PGY2 one-year, post-graduate pharmacy residency training programs with prospects in diverse patient care activities and teaching, as well as investigate and project development.
Resident Responsibilities
All residents in the School of Pharmacy program contribute in a variety of patient care, teaching and educational activities, including:
- Organizing courses with faculty mentors.
- Giving a speech and conducting small group debate to first, second and third year pharmacy students.
- Serving as a preceptor and role model for the students through their clinical clerkships.
- Proposing and developing a project appropriate for presentation and publication.
- Completing and submitting a document for publication prior to conclusion of the residency.
Coursework and seminars are offered during the year for residents. In these training programs, residents obtain instruction and experience in:
- Teaching skills
- Physical assessment
- Emergency medicine
- Research methodology
- Drug use evaluation
- Drug information systems
- Adverse drug reaction reporting
